Question: i wanna learn to color more and better, i already have Clip Studio Paint Pro. Is it worth sticking with that for coloring and learning from there, or should i buy Corel Painter 2020. It's currently $30 with a ton of brushes in a humblebundle.

My coloring right now is super simplistic and limited to just color fill and adding shadows via hard shading, and sometimes softening, though i avoid it because it's difficult and takes a long time.

i want to eventually be able to do stuff like this. so nothing super complex, but still.

Should i get Corel Painter 2020 in the humblebundle for $30 or is that a waste and excessive since i have Clip Studio Paint already?

as someone who uses both, clip studio paint is perfectly fine on its own, especially for the look you want to achieve. Corel is only really useful if you're autistic about digital painting like I am

The reference to "symbol drawing" is a clear, concise criticism. It's not even a castigating or smartass quip. The remedy to this criticism is obvious with an understanding of the phrase. Snapping at this kind of honest criticism is like getting snippy with somebody that has just advised you that your hair is on fire. Fuck.

I'm not going to redline this. Tl;dr anatomy. The eyebrows suggest perspective that I'm not getting from the rest of the face. The nose looks wrong for reasons I can't articulate at 4:00 AM -- maybe it's that the eyebrows and nose are trying to be aligned independently of the rest of the face. Your linework is a problem - go heavier or lighter, but clean up the muddy areas some how. Just ... make the linework cleaner and more confident. There are areas that look like you're trying to suggest value with sketchy linework (ribbon, collar) -- commit to suggesting value with linework or not.

Learn to take criticism gracefully, even if it isn't given gracefully. Which it was. Keep at it and make it, or don't.

You are symbol drawing. You improve by not symbol drawing.
Do you know what symbol drawing is? Then stop doing it.
Do you not know what it is? Learn what it is, then stop doing it.

Learn how things ACTUALLY LOOK, draw them how they ACTUALLY LOOK.

You don't know WHAT you need to improve. You don't know, because you think you know what a face looks like. When someone tells you that you are symbol drawing a face, this means "you think you know what a face looks like and you are just drawing your idea of a face, instead of what a face really looks like".

maybe you're too defensive because on my end it was stating a fact. they state errors and no actual advice.
not to mention you're wrong. "you symbol drew the whole face" when criticism on lineart wasn't asked for is not actually giving criticism "gracefully", it's like i walked by you and said "that dress makes you look fat". it's something that was quite literally uncalled for because i never asked for criticism on lineart or even mentioned it. i'm here to talk about art programs and color and shading.

additionally, i have no idea what you guys think i'm going for, but i'm not looking to draw like fucking Incase, aiming for anatomical perfection. i don't care if my stuff does not look as a human should. if i can get my ideas across, that's all i care, and if you don't like it, then don't like it, but don't try and gang up on me because you don't agree with what i draw.

art is always subjective up until people see shit they don't like then it's "nooooo youre doing it wrong. T_T you're supposed to do anatomy. i wasted half my life to draw an anatomically correct body, if you don't do it then it's wrooooooooooong".

Maybe it is, but there are a number of things to factor in *sharing* applications.
First, security, I'd trust adobe SLIGHTLY more than some some uploader on piratebay.
Second, 'I'm a professional now, I should be able to get this the real way!'.

I think the paranoia around cracked programs comes from 2 different things:

1. Antivirus apps alerting on false positives. This happens regularly with things like keygens because antivirus developers don't bother actually looking into these and just blanket label them malware.

2. People downloading safe and trusted cracks from third parties who have inserted malware. Suddenly you get clueless idiots screaming that these cracks can't be trusted because they downloaded it from some Chinese site and now the CCP is keylogging them.

m0nkrus is Russian though, so if Russians make you nervous, there's nothing I can help you with there.

I have an XP Pen tablet, it has "pen" and "eraser" modes. I use Krita.

I don't like the eraser that Krita defaults to because it has a shitty edge, so I set the brush to the same brush I use for "pen" mode. But when I go to erase with it, it uses it like a pen.
So I set it to erase, and then it works fine, but when I switch back to "pen" mode, it's still erasing.

How the FUCK do I make it FUCKING remember what goddamn fucking brushes I set it to for the different modes? I don't want to fucking do this manually every time I want to draw and erase shit.
