>>4768941This is me. I was on Udemy very early when it launched years ago so I know the ins/outs etc.
The ratio of actual active students is low. It says here I have 300+ but in actuality it's really 87 people who paid for the course. The rest are "free" students I shilled on facebook/coupon sites to drive my course up the SRO.
You see, Udemy treats all new courses by a "I don't think this shit will make us money" so they bury your course and you end up making no money at all. So to prove to those chinks at Udemy you have to promote yourself. A trick that everyone does now is make their course for free so you show Udemy that there is a demand for what you brought to them. Then when they see there is a demand they get on all fours and promote your course THEMESELVES by reducing your course even further in cost so people can get your course for $5 or even $2.
Is it worth using udemy to sell courses? Fuck no. You do gumroad. However, since udemy has a reach of over 5 million people, you can make money over time. But it's not a set it, forget it, and let the money rain operation. They will bury your ass and you have to work for the cash.
