How the fuck do I learn how to draw proportions right?
Right now I’m all over the place and my sketches have no symmetry. Is it just a matter of time or is my technique wrong?

you see the face as eyes, mouth and nose slapped on a 2D shape so your drawing ends up flat and ugly, you're doing texture and shading without doing proper construction first so all the proportions end up wrong.
read up on loomis and vilppu

similar to how bargue drawings are set up
its impossible to make it 100% perfect and most youtubers you see doing that overexpose on light so it hides the erased pencil marks of the guide lines

If you're drawing from reference use guides on the face to gauge where you should place certain features. Look at the spacing of the eyebrows and match that, then work from there, looking at distance from eyebrows to eyes and between eyes etc. It gets much harder w/o reference but when using a picture constantly check back at what you're referencing. 90% observing 10% drawing
