If the second problem, then according to one of my teachers, it's a matter of getting good and being able to visualize stuff on paper, and laying out a mental map of drawing.
>shadingI'm unsure if it's a matter terminology in English, but here we were taught to forget about shadows. To always think about either something being light (bright) or having less light. It's a quick way to learn to see proper values and not draw cartoon shadows.
