No, usually some lazy idiot /beg/ goes "hurr durr y do i need fundies when i can trace 3D models lol" and then they try to trace 3D models and it looks like shit. The worst plague on this board isn't unreasonable tryhards, it's cynical and lazy pieces of shit that shill for shortcuts like tracing and photobashing as a replacement for skill because they want the fastest way to get results with no effort on their part. Or it's just straight up ignorant dunning-kruger NGMIs who think they know better than professional artists and say you don't need fundies because only "muh soul" matters, or some stupid shit like that.
Nobody who knows what they're talking about actually thinks using a 3D model to reference poses from is bad. That being said you shouldn't *need* it for basic poses, and as actual references for studying the body they are inferior to photos and real life since they are artistic interpretations of the real thing. For figuring out tricky foreshortened poses or things you have a hard time imagining (for instance the author of Bearmageddon used 3D models to figure out a shot of a running bear grabbing a guy by the leg) 3D models work great.
