Why do people paint in painterly styles, where you start with an extremely loose sketch, and then work your way through layers, little by little?
Isn't it extremely tedious and boring to work like this, compared to linework styles?
I tried doing this once, but I just couldn't. It just feels wrong to constantly draw so imprecisely plus everything takes ages.
