That he can pull off quickly what others struggle to do at all is a testament to the amount of time he spent honing his skills. His rates aren't going to go down, if anything they will go up.

From the interviews I gathered, he got into the scene of doing 3D paintovers in early 2000s, when it was just starting. I remember seeing a Gnomon Workshop tutorial from one of the Gears of War guys doing exactly that some years later (
