>>99871922Ehhh, not really, first episode of Tiny Toons was kinda bad. Jokes didn't land, animation was shonky, and even the voice actors weren't quite there yet.
That said, it improved, and it's biggest strength was leaning on the comedy and the fun of everything without an overarching 'plot'. Due to this, you could just watch the good episodes, which came out fairly consistently, and skip the ones you didn't like and miss nothing about the characters or world.
By far its biggest strength was the same strength most of the comedies from the 90's had, we'd become so sick of 'messages' and PSA shit about certain aspects of the culture that even when they had to do one, ala the booze episode, they could just lampoon how stupid it all was they were talking about it at all, and not try to push on their 'message' when it obviously would've ruined the joke or setting. Writing, character, and trying to make every episode fun and enjoyable first and foremost was what saved the show, and frankly is the only thing anyone remembers about it, for good reason. Moral lesson episodes get forgotten, but the best work stays.
Thank god the setting allowed for them to change size shape, and everything about themselves at a whim too. Could you imagine if, instead of over the top cartoon characters, they'd tries to act like these were 'real' humans in the real world? Everyone would have made fun of Max's shape changing head and body for being so poorly done! Oh, what a world that would be.
