(It's a theory, but a really good one)
The great thing about that was, it was subtle and even with the Dragon within her, she was still a terrible warrior, at first. But, she, and with the help of her squad mates and Chen growing into a strong and cohesive military unit over time, did she get the strength to become the warrior that would be able to protect her home and elder parents.
The new writers now just seem to want to give her a powerup from the start and that's it, no hard earned work, no resolve, no nothing. Just Mulan being the strong alpha warrior from the start. Hell, we probably won't even see her pull the arrow from the top of the poll, and if we did see it she'd probably do it on the first try.
Fuck it, this whole thing sounds like garbage.
