It needs to have visual effects that are worth seeing on the big screen. If it doesn't have impressive visuals, but it's still a good movie, I'll wait a few months for it to come out on one of the various streaming services I'm paying for.
If the movie has great visuals, but is otherwise crap, I'll just skip it. This seems to be happening more and more often with big budget movies.
One day I'm going to play around with VR and see how convincing a virtual cinema is. If it is convincing, I doubt I'll ever go to the cinema again.
