I would love to do a comic of Joker realizing exactly just how predictable, boring and obnoxious (and not in a good way) he has become and then striving to once again reinvent his material to make people (mostly Batman) laugh again
He kidnaps an audience of critics and then he drives himself absolutely livid trying to come up with the most benign and hilarious crime possible. He keeps coming up with a lot of terrible ideas (because deep down he is still a terrible comedian incapable of making anyone in-universe laugh unless he's the punchline) and presenting them to the people he's kidnapped, and they are all terrified and either pretend it's good or make a slightly non-positive comment, thus making Joker go back into writing.
He never kills them or threatens to, he just throws tantrums and maybe assaults one of them physically before realizing what he's doing.
And throughout the whole time the city is in panic and Batman is frantically trying to find these people as he slowly pieces the situation together.
When Batman arrives, Joker is in the most pathetic state possible, begging to go back to Arkham to get away from the critics who "viciously misunderstood" his work, and all the while the critics are still terrified.
And then Batman does something to Joker (a pun or a gag or whatever, haven't thought of it) that makes everyone burst out laughing, and even Batman himself chuckles a bit. The Joker goes absolutely livid as he's being dragged away, swearing that he'll make those people laugh someday, not realizing that, well, he just did.
