They're not, but I think the best pop-sci channel is PBS Spacetime. It goes a little deeper than most pop-sci and isn't as accessible, so not being a science major myself, I have to work to understand it. But when I do, it's a lot for fulfilling than the softer channels like Vsauce or Veritasium.

But this cartoon one has got a wider scope (being about all science, rather than just astrophysics), and the animations are pretty.

I like them, they are well animated, but i miss the previous style they had. I don't know if the change was because they let someone off or because they wanted to try something different, but the new videos feel....off. I also wish that they could be capable of pumping out videos faster, but i know how hard is to get one of their videos with the quality they are holding, so i really can't complain that much.

They are fantastic when they Talk about Hard science stuff but every economic and Social-political Topic is adressed with a certain bias. While /Pol/ acusses them of the Same stuff they accuse anyone who they disagree with.

They're great when they're talking about science: their nuclear energy and GMO videos are fantastic, but whenever they so much as fart in the general direction of society, culture, or economics they begin to really show their biases. You can be smart, you can be well read and intelligent, but that doesn't guarantee you'll ever be able to understand the fundamentally irrational and unpredictable behavior of humanity so conveniently.
I still, though, really like their videos and always go back for more.

It's nothing personal, but I really abhor the common idea that people are "fundamentally irrational and unpredictable". Everything in the universe is the result of cause and effect, trying to place humans outside of that seems incredibly arrogant. It also comes across like a technique for absolving yourself of responsibility. I.e. Neither was Nazi Germany, but that's besides the point, considered that both ideologies refused science for ideological reasons ("Jewish physics reee!" *has no atom bomb* vs "plant socialism will work!" *famine ensues*)

The point is, the current vocal right-wing isn't "we're fine like we are, let's try to get to perfection and not upset the balance" but "everything is wrong now, go back go back!". Needless to say, that doesn't really bode well for scientific progress.

I know about it, and that's why I said "almost", but it was a short-lived thing, just like the Soviet dislike for cybernetics. All in all, scientific research was a very important part of the ideology. Bolsheviks started mass education programs and were quite successful in bringning Russia to the same level with the rest of Europe in education. Materialistic atheism was the state ideology, even in Stalin times. STEM education was very strong for most of the existence of the Soviet Union, and it has produced a lot of great scientists, and USSR had to keep up with the rest of the world while being a shut-in, and did pretty well for the most part.

Because humans are wildly different and often can't get along within their own countries let alone as a world-spanning entity, and what works for some doesn't work for all which means a government will always be run by a marginally larger sector of the population against the interest of the rest. Culturally, different demographics are molded by their living conditions, this means there will always be different cultures generating across mankind's whole range. Trying to suppress or erase that is just going to create resentment, even more if you try to strip away their feelings of belonging and pride, which isn't just reduced to their identities but also their core values.

Humans have a natural psychological need to be worthy and have a voice within their community, in a big country you reduce them to a single vote among millions, in a whole world they're a single opinion against several millions. Look at the EU, it's the prime example of a bunch of states lorded over by an organization in which they have little to no say in the policies, rules and laws that get implemented, and whose economical contributions barely go into reciprocal development and their own interests.

Globalism does not benefit the average person, it only benefits the richest that get to have an uniform demographic that is easy to understand and squeeze money out of, and those that want to have a hopeless grey goop of a society they can mold to their ideas easily.

Well, because that's the only explanation I can think of for why would a person think that breeds are very different in behavior. Individual difference between two dogs of one litter, even in highly specialized breeds, can be as big as the difference between common behavior traits of different breeds. And the common traits are not as pronounced as most people seem to think. The pointers' pointing is one of the traits that is rather specific, but you get dogs like Chinese Crested that do that occasionally, and this trait has nothing to do with their social life or basic behavior. I mean, my point is, and was originally, that the difference is not big or fundamental enough to call them subspecies. The difference in behavior between dogs and wolves is larger, matters more (difference in social organization) and is more fundamental (like, if you try to compare wolves with dogs, you'll find that the difference between dog breeds is negligible in this comparison).

Phenotype differences do result in differing appearances, yes, but that does not enforce any validity of race as people with black skin color vary A LOT. As do people with white skin color or people who have eye folds. For we are not some singular trait, we are a large range of phenotypes. The variation within any linguistic group (which is a better metric for describing different populations than race) is greater than variation between races as we share pretty much every trait. The eye folds you see in northern (like Finnish) populations and elsewhere as well, it does not only appear among people in east Asia.

Race as a concept is hair splitting as is, just something used to divide humans up. I don't see much purpose for it, anymore than seeing much purpose for keeping tribes around once empires form and larger cultural identities form.

Racial definitions just are terrible for grouping humans. Just see the changing definition of white in America. Not to mention, linguistic groups are better at said sub-groupings and work better again because human groupings can't really be described by race beyond broad strokes. For instance, the "slants eyed change" speak totally different languages and what counts? I've seen people put Japan into a separate category from other East Asian countries before as is, yet they are in the same region with numerous cultural connections. Again, the subjectivity shows.

Linguistic groups at least take into account cultural transmission. But race does not, which makes it deeply misleading since black people in America aren't like black people in say, Rwanda. In fact there's multiple tribal groupings in Rwanda, blanketing them as black doesn't make too much sense. It's that sorta shit that is why decrying slave traders in Africa for selling some other group as somehow "selling out their own kind" makes no sense- to them, they weren't. They were selling the populations of their rivals.

This is the most retarded thing I've read in a while.
You can acknowledge that every human convention is subjective and made to work within the frame of the society it was conceived in.
You can understand that if you take these abstract concepts out of our subjectivity they have no meaning by themselves in the universe.
You can agree that we are the ones who give "meaning" to the things we experience, otherwise there's no inherent "meaning" anywhere.

Anyone can understand all of those and still choose to adhere to the conventions and moral constructs they think are correct within their current time frame. You don't need to use higher power to defend them. You are a human living in a human-made civilization: nihilism's observations are right, but its conclusions are also utterly useless.
You are basically claiming that believing something is evil and understanding the point of nihilism is mutually exclusive.
The problem is that you don't conceive someone who understands the philosophy would still disagree with its conclusions. So your reaction to someone not agreeing is that of a typical nihilist greenhorn who just got out of college: explain the redundant points of your movement again and again believing that since they don't agree with you, they must not get you.

What your type fails to understand is that nihilism is not the only "valid" point of view from where all answers about life and humans can be argued. It's just a one of many starting points for argumentation. The fact that you believe there can't be "true atheism" without nihilism shows a complete lack of capacity to understand other ways of thinking.
Post modernism is literally the most pointless movement the academics have ever suffered from.

I first watched Kurzgesagt then later PraggerU so I have a considerable grasp of science vs bias in both.

Kurzgesagt was interesting in introducing several modern scientific theories with simple language and funny animations.

However, they turned out to be nuts once their philosophic and economic ideals were shown.

Case in point, the people at Kurzgesagt treat untested scientific theories as religious truths and in turn treat science fiction as prophecies.

Real science with supercoputers can barely predict how the weather will be next month but the science ducks wants to print money in the name of future capitalist overlords with machine workers.

Leftist idiots have been predicting the end of human labor at each technological leap since the industrial revolution began but employment just grows wildly whenever that happens.

As for PragerU, they have both great scientists and anti-science philosophers amongst their group.

PraggerU got on their scientific side Climatologists, Physicists and Statisticians who make it abuntantly clear that humanity is not the main cause of climate change, that Police racism is a poor excuse for welfare bastards and that gun control is a totalitarian falacy for deficient mental healthcare.

On the anti-science side, we have certain people telling that just because science proves that certain habits can be harmful it doesn't mean we have to give up funny and chaotic social activities.

On the less scientific and more religious/cultural side of PraggerU, we have Christians and Jews praising patriotism, small government, family and capitalism.

I prefer the anti "white-guilt" MAGA PraggerU above the globalist ducks.
