>>99354201That's what I mean; they halfassed the design process and applied stuff that was in vogue but ineffective for the setting. Sally is a shrunken down version of the Lola Bunny school of design, which just looks weird next to Mr. Recolored-Felix-the-Cat.
>>99354268This defense is kinda bad, however,
>>99354248AoStH isn't quite as disorganized visually. It went for classic animation because Sonic pulls deeply from there in his looks and is a character based on motion. Milton's Robotnik is just more of a Fleischer style of contrasting figure (Koko and Bimbo, Popeye and Bluto) compared to the JP Eggman design going more in the early Disney direction (Alice to Tweedle Dee and Dum). It has its share of problems, but it mostly pulls from smart influences in art and writing (BIG Silver Age comics pulls on that show, especially the "conflict as a puzzle" structure) and delivers an okay product despite very low budget.
SatAM's kind of the opposite, pulling from sources haphazardly without consideration for the mascot or the show as a whole (pulp adventure writing mixed with the opposing Saturday morning writing cliches, Bluth and sci-fi aesthetics clashing with Sonic and a very desaturated color pallete, continuity focus without proper planning, ensemble cast without strong character focus). It's a bit of a mess comparatively, and that's more because it's not well coordinated and doesn't take the character into proper consideration more than "accuracy to the source material."
