>>99265096>Dont they realize they will loose money and notoriety because most fans will abandon them and no one new will find out about them.I'm an artist, in a different field mind you, but a successful one who grew my brand really really well, and I tried explaining this to a couple patreon artists before and it was like talking to a wall.
It's not just about being a good artist, you also need a serviceable business and marketing sense. A lot of these guys don't have it and they get tunnel vision and wind up just thinking
>I need money now, patreon gets me money, work only goes on patreon!and skip over all the important middle steps that get people to their patreon in the first place.
One of them was moving ALL their good shit from being accessible to $1 and $5 patrons (like 98% of their patrons) to $15 (like literally 4 people) and I tried explaining how if he wanted to try to coax patrons to increase their donations that asking them to increase it by 3x to 15x their current donation right up front was the total wrong way to do it, but it turned into, again
>Well I need money and I need it soon so this is the way I got to do it.Surprise, no one moved, but he's still only catering to those 4 people now. He'll lose the rest eventually.
