To be the CHAMPION should mean something - not everyone CAN be the champion and not everyone SHOULD be the champion.
Maybe I should be like this anon >>98926647
and give credit for stuff Johns didn't make clear, but since the collected trade could fix things (as is always the case and as DC has done in the past) or been used to amplify stuff, NOPE that's not what they did. It still reads, whether you go with Billy impressing him, as if the Wizard picked Billy because he had limited options at that point.
Purity isn't what I'm talking about, or child like innocence - personally, and again, I'm not a long time fan, I've not really read much before the 2000s of his and what I've read has been little, but my point is that if you're going be heroic, either you earn it or come to understand the Great Power/Great Responsibility type situation, not that you just happen to be in the way and were 'clever enough.'
I mean who doesn't have potential? It's just a stupid decision that Johns made that diminishes the selection, particularly given that the he then has the Wizard say he can't undo it, and when they get to talking about Black Adam in any ongoing, what's he - ANOTHER BAD, RUSHED decision by the wizard?
