I can't be certain, but I think it might have something to do with those fetishes being brought to peoples attention who might not have known about them otherwise, or possibly people becoming more comfortable talking about them because they see more and more people shitposting and think it's legit or that they wont be laughed at as much because people think they're shit posting if they talk about it. People posting them and then coming to the realization that they themselves may have those fetishes is really just a "Haha isn't it funny? Haha wonder what it must be like, right? As a joke!" sort of effect. They do it as a joke, but feed into the growth of the fetish at large and run the risk of discovering something about themselves in the process they don't want to know. Then they try to roll with it like it's all an act.
