Basically, all he does is introduce new characters to keep the show going. I wouldn't even be surprised if Butch introduces a new character who is a fairy god cat to appeal to Chloe's envy if Sparky isn't enough to appeal for both of them. And then "what do you fucking know", Nickelodeon is making another cartoon whose main characters include a dog and a cat.
