So a couple details I left out.
>During act 1 on the walk to their van Luigi expresses concern that the old house they're going to plumb is rumored to be haunted. Their client steps out leaving them to unclog the toilet. When Mario strolls off Luigi cleans up the puddles with an industrial vacuum cleaner and cries out to Mario "Don't just leave me here! WAIT FOR MEEE!" and runs after him.At some point in the movie Mario and Luigi get separated. Luigi winds up in a ghost house and basically learns to use his OCD tendencies to overcome his crippling fear of ghosts. After he runs screaming through the whole Ghost House Scooby Doo style he locks himself in a supply closet and has his whole "Dark Knight of the Soul" moment. "Coma on, Luigi, Geta yourself together... Why are you ascared of everything? ... Whata would Mario do? ... NO. Ima NOT by brother! I'ma not Mario. Whata would WEEGEE do!?" He stands up confidently and finds a light switch and realizes hes in a supply closet. Next to him is a vacuum.
I havent figured out Mario's story although it doesnt need to be as interesting. It could just be a montage of him fighting various enemies and bosses. I kind of want Mario's arc to be about meeting Yoshi (Pre-Yoshi's Story Yoshi). Maybe he will finally see what it feels like to be Luigi and have to rely on someone who is silly and easily distracted. Maybe it will be a lesson about responsibility and teamwork. Maybe it will make him miss his brother.
Bowser is the easiest part to write because he just needs to be a delusional hopeless romantic with a hot temper who is in love with Peach and doesnt know how to show it. His scenes would be interspersed throughout the movie depicting his various attempts to woo peach: Flowers and chocolates, jewlery, swan boat rides, all of which end with Peach rejecting Bowser and him having a tantrum.
