The Graveyard Book is a bit like the Jungle Book except in a cemetery; ghosts, ghouls, werewolves, vampires and an association of mysterious serial killers. It's pretty fun and Gaiman does a great job at letting you imagine it all.
The Ocean at the End of the Lane is great. It resembles Coraine in that it's about a kid fighting an evil monster, with a bit of Sandman by adding some ungodly powerful entities who help the boy out. It's also darker than Coraline; there is far more violence and death and even some sex thrown into the mix. If Laika ever wanted to make a movie for adults I'd love to see them tackle that book.
