Some of the left, meanwhile, likes waifu-ing for the reasons the right hate it, and another part of the left hates it for the reasons the right like it.
At its core, and divorced from any specifically Japanese context, our waifuism is age-old idolatry of cute fictional females, sometimes for secks and other times for admiration and relatability. It's been going on for a hundred years.
