the first round is the matador stabbing with those little spear things and tiring it out
the second round is multiple non matadors attempting to stab big spears in the shoulders, so it cant fully raise its neck anymore

To use the beef/slaughter industry as an analogy shows how much of an edgy retard you are. People aren't actively watching in amusement the slaughter of the animal, in fact most people are against the idea of inhumanely treating food animals, and most farms and companies are constantly on blast for this stuff. The issue isn't really how the slaughterhouses kill the animal, and nobody is arguing it's not inhumane how they hold these animals, but simply the meat industry is too huge to fix by "becoming vegan". Winning breed bulls are rare. It's more likely the bulls are killed after the event even if they "win". How it's decided is by crowd vote (whether the bull is winning or not) and if it's decided then the matador lets the bull out and it's allowed to breed. Again this never really happens.

The Spanish Government subsidizes bullfighting with a fair amount of money, it's an industry that Spanish tax payers are paying for, and the matadors etc get millions of euros for their sport (this is similar to league players in the US, and they receive subsidies too however this is purely for stadium creation). Part of the reason Catalonia was attempting to ban it aswell was because attendance and acceptance is dropping, and overall public opinion is lowering. If a great majority of the public doesn't attend these and doesn't agree with them then why should they be funding them, especially in such a disastrous economy? It's money that's basically being tossed at matadors and workers in the industry to continue it, and it doesn't serve any actual purpose past entertainment, something that there is plenty of and Spanish people take pride in in many other ways. On top of that it's the epitome of a tourist trap. It makes money off tourist who have a passing curiosity over it and end up going to one, being disgusted, and leaving.

At the end of the day it's a disgusting waste of money meant to attract retarded tourist and help fund rich assholes. Someone mentioned Nascar and they're about as entertaining as a Nascar race, they're boring as fuck unless someone is being gored, and honestly it's offensive to infer that bullfighting is integral to Spains culture.

Also it's inhumane to stab an already stressed out animal to death, especially for fun.
If you legitimately think that can't be part of a reasonable argument than you're a sociopath.

Not to sound dismissive but bullfighting has ridiculously hard numbers to follow. Most numbers are reported by the organizations that do the bull fighting themselves and they're suspicious purely off the fact they beat out other popular industries by ridiculous amounts. They also say it fuels, again, a ridiculously huge amount of jobs.

If we go off these numbers, it should bring in more money than is tossed at it, by at least double, however there are many Spanish news sites and agencies that argue these numbers as being skewed by the industry. You can take the numbers at face value and say they're true but the Spanish government and industries lying isn't new, especially when it comes to money.

If you've ever been to one attendance isn't impressive. It'll hit highs during special occasions but not often. I've seen videos of Plaza de Toros México and it's had way larger attendance than any Spanish bullfighting ring I've seen.

Honestly like I said before it's a boring as fuck "sport". Even if you were to defend it as such it's the epitome of sitting watching nothing for like 3 hours. You have to be braindead to enjoy it.

Nobody torture cattle out of want. The meat industries shitty upkeep is due to necessity, greed and cost. The biggest way to treat it is to cut down on meat production and consumption overall but then prices go up and I doubt that will ever happen.

There is no necessity to bull fighting, or help to cost for it. Like I said before it's funded upon subsidies and then the same people are getting their money spent on it and dumb tourist go watch it. In reality this money could be put into any other industry and be just as advantageous, but despite Spain's reoccurring financial crisis they still pump money into a dying industry that's losing the citizens vote.

Besides, this is a two wrongs makes a right argument anyways. Just because the meat industry is shitty doesn't necessitate we need shit sports, religious ceremonies, etc as well that mimic the same practices but with even less practicality.

Plenty of cattle in Spain get to live a normal life just like the bulls, however the bulls in Spain are specifically raised for this and killed at around 5 of age. FOR SPAIN this is animal cruelty on a fairly large scale. On top of that Spanish cattle antiobiotics is steadily leading to more super bugs. They are doing a shit job with their animals overall, everyone does, and it all needs fixing, but the easiest most reasonable things we can get rid of/do without are sports related industries.

I've sat through 2 bullfights, one in full (all matches) when I was young and about halfway through when I got older. Like if you cut off your mind from the fact this is a living animal they are stabbing to death and toying with it's not fun. The anticipation is that the matador gets harmed or something spectacle happens that sparks up everybody but the majority of the time this isn't really the case. The only thing there is to it is the crowds enthusiasm with it, which happens practically regardless of the sport. Going to a soccer match is a million times more entertaining, way more to talk about, and you don't feel like shit after the fact.

Bulls are not that aggressive by nature.

Bull-fighting isn't about a fair fight or an even fight. If there was a 50-50 chance of survival people wouldn't do it.

They get them drunk to make them belligerent and impair them, wound them to trigger their survival instinct, and then rely on their poor eyesight to fight them.

Getting animals to act more aggressively goes way back in history like when people rode war elephants they'd also get them drunk before a battle to make them more aggresive because Elephants don't usually react well in stressful situations

Between Bull Fighting and Factory Farming, I say as a random american, I can do something about the latter by making personal changes. Eat less chicken and beef, choose to rely less on factory farming, go pescetarian if it's affordable (just not tuna or shrimp though).

Bullfighting is still pretty bullshit, especially since there are like there are other Dangerous Bull-Related Traditions in Spain. But you know, pick your battles. You can choose not to eat meat that comes from fucked up sources, you can't choose to make all the mean ol' factory farms go away. Change comes from within.

Second is game hunting. Animals hunting and eating each other is something that happens constantly in nature. I also think that with eating meat comes the responsibility to understand exactly what that means to the animal, in a visceral way, and that's something very divorced from going to taco bell and getting their meme burrito on the week.

I also don't see animal life on a factory farm as inherrently any more virtuous than living in the wild.

how do you slaughter a pig without people being around it. give him a bucket, a knife and a blow torch and some pans, hoping that he will do the thing himself. also no one kills pigs when they are 200kg, they are too fat by them. you want them young around 100-120kg. best meat, not too tough, not too soft, fat enough to get good taste, but not too fat to make the pig be sick, and downgrade the taste of meat, liver etc

Another city dudes story is required here. Back when I was a kid, one of our uncles returned from many years of work in Cuba. He called the bleeding barbaric, and that civilised people use electricity to kill pigs. tried to use it on my grand aunts pig, man I have never seen an animal suffer more. the fat was just too thick, so he kept zaping it , and while it was black burned it was still alive, and squicking like nothing I ever heard in my life. In the end my grand uncle killed it the old way. Many years later I have seen how industrial slaughter houses work. pig gets zapped, but not killed, gets dunked alive in to scalding water, zapped aggain, lifted by its legs up and cut while still alive. And people call our methods bad. Fuck slaughter houses and people that work there.

I dreaded the release of this movie, as I was expecting silly articles like this one or some kind of boycott. Here in Spain everytime some group feels ofended they call for a boycott, but as far as I know that article is the most relevant thing the bullfighting crowd has made related to this movie.
That said, bullfighting is becoming less popular over time, the young people don't care about it or openly dislike it, and even before that it was more valued in the south and in the east that in other regions.
