Ultimately, this is the point: That now more than any other point in history communication is the most exponent, malleable, and impactful than it has ever been. To mire in postmodernist minimalism due not to your own conclusions, but due to memetic influence you don't go out of your way to become aware of, creates a damaging effect on society as more of those ideals of futility spread as a memetic attitude. You are what you eat, if you eat nothing but shit, you become shit. A better society requires a better nutrition and an artist has a purpose in life, to provide that nutrition. If you can create a work with a real honest point, or even better, many broad points that many people regardless of background can recognize, if you don't present instructional and pretentious political objectivity or lazy non commital subjectivity, but rather present a reality with many truths that the audience can recognize, and you do your duty to make work that can captivate the imagination and lead it down those truths with the skill and craft only you can produce, and you release work like that NOW, in this age where every communication is worth more than it has ever been worth and you create an enormous shorthand for innumerable complex ideas and communications, you create real compounding value in society, you give people enough articulation for subconscious ideas for them to have the freedom to really address those ideas head on in their own lives. Art matters, but only if you make it matter, only if you give it a reason to matter instead of giving up. Research on things you've never heard about and introduce an audience to that and create an entryway into that facet of life they may have otherwise been blind to, create imagery that resonates with people, provide people with the service of information that images can be.
Be useful, don't make mindless postmodernist cartoons.
