Games have such a broad appeal that when someone says 'gaming' is their hobby I just assume they're an boring person, in the same way you'd probably be put off by someone try to pass off 'watching TV' as a hobby. Worse yet is when these same kids, who, upon realizing they have nothing else to define them as a person, try to conflate their interest in playing games with the act of creating games, and automatically assume they're going to be some game design genius because they have 2,000 hours in COD despite having zero hours in any sort of IDE.
