>>97523594I'm parsing things evenly. It's already made MORE than MoS made internationally. It's being HURT by the fact that it will NOT make what MoS made domestically.
But MoS didn't even make what Transformers made in 2007! Or what TASM2 made just one summer later, when it was considered a failure.
They shoulda coulda woulda made a proper sequel to MoS, released WW, released Aquaman, done SS but with more Batman, had Batman in the MoS sequel but not as a stupid versus. Or have Batman in a smaller role in a Flash/GL or Flash/Cyborg buddy movie, AND then release JL.
The main problem is that MoS, BvS and JL are viewed as trilogy. I think a follow-up to SS will make more money than the first movie did, and the sequel to WW certainly will make more than the first one did.
Aquaman will likely make more than JL did domestically. And it will probably make more than MoS, which would still be 150M+ less than Wonder Woman made.
The one thing that would differentiate DC Films from anything else would be more films that feature 3 or so of the principals, for example if they did a Lantern movie but had Superman in it, and some Boom Tube/tech reason for Victor, or even someone totally new, in a role no larger than Diana's in BvS, for the movie.
Likewise, if the adapt First Thunder for the Zach Levi Captain Marvel film, have Henry show up for a chunk of it and introduce Zatanna and/or Constantine for an even smaller role, and have the rest of the movie be about the wizard, Billy, etc.
No matter how much comedy they threw into Thor Ragnarok and barring that Ruffallo isn't necessarily a draw, take Hulk out of the movie and you have Hela, Grandmaster, Loki for a third time, etc. It probably doesn't hit as big as it did, maybe yes - but maybe no.
