>>97508929Korra was a wasted opportunity to do something that would be ballsy.
>Have Korra be "The Last Avatar", as in Bending is dead, it's over. Technology and modernity have made it irrelivent and there's no going back to the way things once were.>End the Series with Korra coming to this revelation in contrast to starting out in a very pro-bending mindset.>show this not as "technology and consumerism good, tradition bad"-type duality, but something more a realization that the very foundations of the "bending" spirituality are coming undone at the seams via technological, scientific advances, and the impact these advances have had on the way people interact with their enviroment. No longer are a group of people praying to some spirit for rain, they're drilling deep wells to tap into ancient aquifers.. (ironically draining the energy/power of the spirit they once begged for rain in the process, both in terms of the "spiritual energy" but also the "power" said spirit once over those people), No longer are the wolves and wild predators attempted to be appeased with some kind of sacrifice, (they're just exterminated as pests), the forests and trees are being cut down to supply the lumber demanded for new industries, furniture, housing, shipbuidling, etc.
Have a scene like "The Last Samurai" where an army of benders are basically mowed down by line infantry, because "a gun doesn't get tired" and "doesn't need to worry about chi" or whatever. include someone saying something to that effect to explain why the nations are adopting mass infantry tactics when you've got boulder-throwing magic available.
If anything it would be some actually useful educational television, even if it traumatized a whole fuckton of people.
