If the ISP's block you, you're fucked, they have monopolies, no real competition and they lobby to prevent local groups and governments from funding their own infrastructure and competingm if a website doesn't let you use their site a person can literally just type in a different fucking site and get instant access.
They'll also arbitrarily increase the cost of having a website even if you're being very efficient and using little bandwidth (read: resources/electricity)
They've been regulated like a utility for a reason. I agree that Facebook and Google are evil, but ISP's with even less regulation than Google and Facebook have to deal with now will be a 100x worse. Half the time things are censored on Google and Facebook because media companies abuse the DMCA and pretend that Fair Use doesn't exist.
The ISPs own media companies and will go batshit insane on anything they think they can pretend is 'infringement.' They'll just directly block torrents, streaming sites, the list of bad behavior that will be possible is endless.
There are a ton of social websites available and you can choose between them with very little cost (free market situation.)
Net Neutrality isn't perfect, but it is pretty fucking good honestly, my most hardcore libertarian friends acknowledge that it isn't smart to repeal it and nobody besides Big-4 ISPs and the largest net companies stand to benefit.
I run numerous torrents of public domain works, and there is a real risk the ISPs will just block it because they fucking can.
Expect the ISPs to lie, because they will and do, they won't come down hard at first, but they'll find weird fucking ways to screw every single person in the whole damn country, consolidate their media influence, don't ignore this shit okay?
Also Google and Facebook might benefit because they have enough money and power to make deals with the ISPs, so they can't be relied on to help. This shit is up to citizens, the rich and powerful will be fine mostly.
