My point still stands, the creators can and should do whatever they want, even break tone, it's obviously gonna impact on the quality of the work.

That ending impacted a little bit on the quality of the special. Not too much, though. It was enjoyable, and I can see my self watching it again with no problem, but you have to agree that the ending wasn't as smooth as it could've been.

Dude there are a shitload of specials that end explictly that way. With the character's stopping to give a moral lesson about something.

I can vaguely remember Christmas specials that ended with them talking about love and capitalism, I'll have to look up Veggie Tales episodes but the jarring as fuck cut to people moralizing is common as hell.

I'm glad you could, but I can't. That killed the tone of the entire thing. The ending is just as important as the rest of the story. Is the ending falls flat, the entire thing does to for me. The problem was that the rest of the episodes had that tone, but it was done just fine. We get to the end, and out of nowhere we get a interrupted PSA following by condescending staring, and silence. Breaking the tone.

Do you understand how parody works? For fucks sakes the episode had three different musical numbers where Nikki rambled on about the vague idea of Christmas before at the end it was kind of lampooned and you're complaining about the one thing you don't reference point for being jarring and out of place.

In the context of inuniverse where these bundle of assholes suddenly moralize the fourth wall? sure.

But a show ending with the character's turning to face the camera and moralize to it has never been a new thing. It's been a staple of the early to late oughts children's shows on antenna television.

If you didn't watch those shows, you wouldn't get it. But having watched a shitload of those shows it felt like a Christmas episode.

but thats part of the story.Kyle says the lesson based on stuff that happened in the episode to characters of the actual universe.
This special only mentioned the climate change as a recurring gag that wasnt that relevant until the very fucking end.

Honestly, the PSA would have been fine if it felt more separated from the episode and/or it became even more of a parody of other Christmas PSAs, such as all the characters suddenly being on a blatantly obvious studio set. I know it feeling out of place was done on purpose or something, but it dropped the special from a 9 to a 8.5/8.6 for me.
