Scorn was last seen in Carnage USA, still bonded to Tanis Nieves. While Lasher, Riot, Agony and Phage's hosts were all killed in Deadpool vs. Carnage (expect for the dog), the symbiotes themselves survived and were handed back over to the military. Scream, Toxin and Raze do appear to be dead, though.

While not the worst thing Slott and Costa have written, it still wasn't very good. Peter is still an incompetent loser and Eddie still has no reason for suddenly wanting to be Venom again. The only thing about this issue I found good was Flash becoming the new Anti-Venom, and we don't know if that will still be the case after this story's finished.

Well Mania/Maniac is literally a straight up clone of Venom, so every weakness is shared. As for how they interact, Anti-Venom's very tuch is toxic to the symbiote, with Eddie only losing to Flash because the symbiote trying bonding again and the PTSD kicked in.

Remember the whole hellmark storyline started off with Venom getting possessed by a demon that couldn't control flash because of the mark, then both the hellmark and the demon possession were shunted onto the clone venom and in turn Andi.

This said, Venom is creeping into "Magneto" territory in the sense that his origins are tied to a specific moment in time: Back in the 1980s, print journalism was a MUCH bigger deal than it is now, and was held to a much higher standard as a result.

Eddie Brock didn't even do anything wrong. A compulsive confessor called Emil Gregg claimed that he was the Sin-Eater, which Eddie published after the authorities and his editors pressured him. Also, Emil had dressed up as the Sin-Eater and tried to kill Jameson, because he was crazy.
But then it turned out that Emil wasn't the Sin-Eater, he just thought he was because he confused his neighbors rants (his neighbor being the real Sin-Eater) with voices in his head telling him to do things.

There was a recent Batman storyline where we get the rebooted origin of Kite-Man, where he was just this dumb wannabe crook who Batman intimidated into working as a mole in the Joker's organization for Batman. As a direct result of that decision, Kite Man's wife and son both got killed. See, THAT'S how you set up a villain to credibly hate a super-hero for their well-meaning but ultimately destructive actions. If Spider-Man had done something similar it would be credible. The scenario you describe which actually happened is pretty weak.

I just want to see flash back in black. I like the new look, but I miss his dynamic with the symbiote. I mean, they could even give Eddie the one maniac's using, and just leave it at that. Sorry, I really didn't give much of a shit about mania, and I kind of hope she stays out of the picture. Kid heroes must be eradicated. (except Billy)

Flash as Anti-Venom is fine, it fits the heroism more, but I just don't want them to separate the partner dynamic that Space Knight did a good job in portraying. If the AV symbiote had a personality, whether it was a clone of Venom's or a new one entirely, I would be a happy man.
And if they actually gave Anti-Venom the same powerset of Venom instead of "I can heal shit!", that'd be nice. Flash's Venom was underutilized for what it could've done with its soldier/black ops shit.

I don't know how many Venom comics you read, but in a good number of them for a long time (and the current run, which is the one relevant to this story) Eddie has been a good guy, and if anything the symbiote tempts him.

The symbiote doesn't like Flash more, it just can't choose between them. It also wouldn't let Gargan kill Eddie IIRC, the symbiote loves all hosts who have done well by it and even some that haven't (Peter). Also, Eddie is still right even if it were meta, "WE ARE VENOM", that is what Venom is all about. Two misguided souls coming together, the whole "real hero" thing doesn't fit with Venom, so boring. Venom is best as a screwed up anti hero, not just another cliche Avengers type

Flash was just as broken as the symbiote when they came together, but they got better together, too. Just cause they aren't being edgy, and always bordering murdering a street-level nobody, doesn't mean he isn't a good venom.

The making him evil thing was a retcon created by the cartoon adaption. The worst thing the symbiote did while on Peter was tale his body for joy rides at night to fight crime. Which is still in the realm of well-intentioned even if it's probably overstepping a boundary.
