Despite presumably having almost the same run time as the planned theatrical movie, they cut out many different things. The kids were gonna have side plots, for instance.

That fucking sucks, I mean we can't have a 4 hour film but damn, we needed more stuff. They streamlined it like hell and many humor-based scenes were clearly removed.

Which one? I know that one shot Craig posted on Instagram is not in the movie, and I think a few backgrounds shown in NYCC aren't used either.

There was a scene on the boat where Arnold and Gerald were relaxing on blue/yellow lawn chairs and Arnold said something like "I can't believe it, we're actually here" and halfway through the sentence it became a voice over showing other movie clips which had been used in every other trailer. It was in a "Coming up next/later" trailer, or an encore trailer. It wasn't one of the main ones that aired every day, it was custom to the time frame that the movie was coming up soon.

as much as I like the cast, that would have been a big mistake and cutting out those side plots was the right move. There was enough buoying the main plot between Helga and others escaping they didn't need several smaller plot threads, it would turn it into a muddled mess

I watched the episode before the movie and it was clear it wasn't a suicide thing, he was just relocating. I can't believe there were entire headcanons based around that.
