>>97263193It's annoying that things are supposedly happening each episode, but very few feel like they actually mattered or amounted to anything in the long run. Also feels like we've learned less about Mewni and magic despite being ON Mewni and having more reason to show magic than the season when it was being corrupted.
I remember seeing some comments before this season by people working on the show about the first half of S2 barely scratching the surface of what was to come, and while that felt true for S2B and the movie, it really feels like we've learned almost nothing new or interesting since aside from the Meteora reveal. When I look back at their posts about this season from late 2016/17, I just get this sense of "you know, we were never really missing much after all."
>>97263199The Marco stuff feels inconsistently focused on too, and Star's current interests, monster rights + Tom, are so infrequently shown that they might as well not be happening.
Keep thinking about how well Bon Bon handled the story from both Star and Marco's sides, and how everything feels so apathetic now.
>>97263285This is true too.
I'm not actually sure we even really got anything of that caliber offscreen aside from stuff that actually had to be, like Toffee corrupting magic, while it's happening like every other episode now.
>>97263340I have too, but nothing this season has given me much of a reaction compared to the stuff before.
I wondered if maybe I was just getting over the show a bit, but looking back at older episodes I still think they're done well and that comparatively S3 feels like going through the motions, despite some of the basic elements being good ideas in concept.
We're 2/3s through and it still feels like we're exactly where we were in October, since most if not all new developments feel so shallow.
