>>97209233If you think about it, it's pretty logic. BvS opened to 50 million more than MoS yet it ended up grossing only 40 more. It's higher grossing was simply due to the Batman hype, which died down when they saw Snyder learned nothing from MoS and it had all the flaws of that one but 10 times worse.
Now, with JL, there was no hype whatsoever. There wasn't any big crowd waiting for The Flash, let alone Aquaman and even less Cyborg. People had already seen the characters they cared about (Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman) together on the big screen, and they didn't like it. They weren't going to rush into the cinema to get fucked again by Snyder. Sure, there was Wonder Woman, but they didn't really hyped her up very much in the advertising for this, and in the movie itself she was treated like garbage. Only there to act like a mom or a sexy lady, so there surely wasn't any positive WOM among the female audience that made Wonder Woman such a massive hit.
I'm not one to consider Marvel's way the only way to do things. If BvS would've been actually good, and a proper introduction to a version of these characters people, this movie would've been bigger than BvS (and BvS would've been bigger than it was), but considering the shitfest that was, the best thing WB could've done was have 2 or 3 solo films before JL, to wash away the taste. If besides the WW film there would've been a well received Batman solo, the Aquaman movie and then the JL, it could've worked. But they rushed JL into production with Snyder at the helm, and they payed for it.
