>>96994027The big deal wasn't the few dipshits whining about the girls taking a selfie, it was the huge overreaction to make a "movement". It was a weak fake viral motion to get them trending and try and be some good PR for Marvel which they desperately needed, even if it barely worked (which is why most people had no idea it happened). It's just another example of how big companies are trying to sneak more advertising past people by pretending it's all grass roots activism bullshit when it's not.
Think about it, if it wasn't a generic milkshake from anywhere and was instead a soda, it'd come off exactly like those tacky pepsi commercials they just ran. That's literally the only thing that keeps people from realizing it was just a forced PR stunt.
I mean they'll never be short of a vocal minority of dipshit whingebags who will complain about anything (wah wah comic ladies talking selfies- it's literally a non issue) but capitalizing on that it a pretty insidious tactic designed to make you think better of certain aspects of Marvel's business practice. It's not about comics or the quality of them at all. It's a masturbatory self congratulatory pat on the back for hiring women, which shouldn't be seen as an exception, it should be a standard.
tl:dr most people who focus on this, focus on the wrong side (the whining guys) and not the sneaky social ad campaign.
