>>96948899>What are some cool relatively recent comics I can read to get into them?see pic
it's a stand alone issue for Kirby's birthday
something close to it, might be Rumble and Jersey Gods but really if dig the crazy Kirby stuff look for Tom Scioli's Transformers vs. G.I. Joe
low key good New Gods appearances are in Eclipso #16-18 and a good Darkseid story in #10
you can always pick up the Morrison stuff like Seven Soldiers, JLA and Multiversity
Paul Levitz wrote The Great Darkness Saga in the pages of Legion of Super-Heroes series... I think it's good but you might be put off by the Legion
in terms of films, He-Man was intended to be a nod to the New Gods and Kirby's other works by director Gary Goddard and of course the original Star Wars trilogy got the epic New Gods feel to it
>>96951924Kirby's stuff is good, you should look up the Super Powers comic he did for DC's toyline
but if you're strictly talking about Scott Free stuff then you have to read the Steve Gerber issues too
You can read Englehart's short run, I like it but Englehart didn't and that's why he used the pen name of John Harkness
Then there's Mister Miracle Special #1 by Mark Evanier with Steve Rude on art duties
King's Mister Miracle is taking forever in it's build up, it might have been better read in tpb, I don't know, I only liked the Granny Goodness issue, so far... the art is tremendous though.
