Not only do I not expect sincerity from everyone, I don't even want it. A little bit of being politely fake goes a long way to keeping certain encounters tolerable. The more time I spend with someone, the more sincerity I want: close friends, room mates, significant others are people I want to be fairly straight with, and them with me.
Family members I only talk to on holidays, the D&D nerds I only see a few times a month, and strangers on the street? Fuck it.
