Gems are perfect.
They don't require food or sleep.
This alone is huge.

What would you do if you became like a gem not requiring food or sleep?
Would you want to sleep or eat even if you have no need for it?
For me its a huge wast of time and if I no longer needed sleep I would simply not wast time with it.
