I've been watching from the very beginning and though 1 had flaws, it was the beginning and even the weakest stuff served as an introduction of a sort. Also they could get away with "no lore" because, again, beginning, plus certain stuff turned out deeper and "actually lore" in retrospect. That second point can be true for this season as well, but it's still the same problem as the first: stuff feels like it doesn't matter, in this case stuff outside of the shipping.
2 was actually fucking great at doing the lore stuff and I was never one who complained about the beginning of that season. The first episode alone was fantastic at showing the heavier focus on story and plot that season (better than the first of this bomb), and I totally expected shit to get real after that.
Compared to either season I'm just feeling kind of burned out, despite not even disliking these episodes. I'm just waiting for something to happen.
