>>96630290It's a nice take on the clumsy character design. Reminds me of how Dirk the Daring was designed with huge feet to show that he's a clumsy character. Despite having a heroic face and being a brave character he was very awkward in his lankiness and it made it all the funnier when he'd fail and die.
Shelby instead is nebbish, cowardly and clumsy, and her size plays into that. Using the bust and hips instead of a big gut means she's not entirely ugly, but grotesque is a pretty good descriptor. She's extreme in her shape, and pretty much the entire short is about her physical presence being awkward. Those traditionally womanly curves being so extreme also contrasts a lot with the traditionally masculine hero.
I think it's really cool to see designs that heighten the characterization. I think people often think it doesn't happen with women, but it just depends on the project.
