Youtube was never designed as a primary source of income. It was sustainable 5 years ago, but living off of youtube is becoming rarer and rarer as the years go by. Youtube is fickle, they can change stuff overnight without warning that can immediately change your channel as a reliable source of income to making almost nothing. Just ask the Youtube animators.

You never hear about the thousands that but failed to live off of cartoon reviewers because they arent popular like Mr Enter or Panpizza. Its not impossible to live off Youtube and Patreon money, but the chances in 2017 are very, very low.
