>>96465001The animation in the first movie was pretty bad, since it was a bunch of Mexicans making it on a shoestring budget, and I heard it was sort of a like a student project in that they were literally learning as they go.
The humor is rather oblique to non-Mexicans such as why the pink haired skeleton was singing the Witch Doctor song or who Don Andres was based off of. Even some Mexicans didn't understand the jokes because they were references that were aimed to people in Mexico city, and there are many Mexicans who live outside that place.
Even though I like Moviedora, she's a noticeably weaker character than Netflixdora. Moviedora is more foolish and self-absorbed than Netflixdora, and isn't nearly as useful. Also, English dub voice for her is shit in the movies, she sounds like Princess Ponyhead from Star Vs the Forces of Evil.
The movies and the show are similar in that they both have an interesting premise, but the show executes it better. I hope whatever writers worked on the show wind up working on the movies too.
