I thought the ABCs of Beth was the weakest ep this season and the name of a man who is an experienced writer on actual Rick and Morty is attached to it. Sometimes long-time show writers just make weak episodes. But all of the writers wrote on every episode and if you really think there was some overarching ongoing problem with this season, Harmon and Roiland are to blame.
As for the psychiatrist getting hung up on her is retarded because people call Rick all like this all the time, the show making it clear that Rick sucks is the only thing that keeps him from being a completely unbearable Mary Sue, but fans still don't fucking get it, they still look up to and emulate Rick. So maybe they need to be even more obvious.
