>>95935946I don't mind this show!
Except that the title character gets less screentime and development than the guy who was originally supposed to be the audience insert info dump.
Except for the main characters' various traumas (blake escaping an abusive relationship and cult-like extremist group? The emotional effects that she's trying to recover from even today are mentioned twice, tops. Yang, a fiery fighter who relies on her fists, loses an arm? Its fine, good as new in a few episodes. Not to mention that she still doesn't know about Emerald's illusions, so her thinking she's crazy after "breaking" mercury's leg is a huge plot point for a day and then mentioned never again.)
Every time a new plot point is introduced, it has to be embellished with new devices and characters, until we don't even know what the main focus is supposed to be anymore. Team RWBY? I mean, evidently not. Blake's arc focus on her friends and allies (Sun last season and that chameleon chick next season it seems). Ruby's arc is the Jaune show now. Yang just makes her problems disappear and did a fat load of fucking nothing last volume. Weiss is the only one I can say is still trying to work on herself and deal with the problems she is presented with in a way that we can safely say her arc is about her. so, no, RWBY isn't about RWBY anymore.
Is it about the maidens? Not primarily, no. They were hardly mentioned at all last volume, unless Jaune crying about Pyrrha and not letting the rest of the team grieve counts. At least it seems like they'll be bringing the maiden thread of things into Yang's mommy issues.
The relics? Please. They are just newly introduced last volume, with no foreshadowing for them, and it doesn't look like they are mentioned in the trailer. They are just another gimmick.
And then there is Oscar.
