Diane's an interesting character, but most of the people who sympathize with her over Mr. PB make no sense in their arguments. I'm not saying you can't sympathize equally, but she actively does fucked up things and the narrative is lucky enough that the only person who could call her out on them, her husband, is quiet and accepting. He basically expects barely anything of her other than to stay with him and love him, yet she has conditions and standards. Which is fine and normal and she should, but it makes it easier to see the impact of what he does to her rather than what she does to him.
Anyway, most of my sympathy goes out the window when I remember Diane is about 38 years old and still throwing tantrums and having an identity crisis every other day.
