>>95514302Notice how all the criticisms they had of Obama suddenly disappeared once Trump got into power. Remember when air strikes were absolutely the worst thing Obama has ever done because of the civilian casualties? Now civilian casualties are higher per day than they've ever been in the past six years and you don't hear a single word from them. Not one. Suddenly they've stopped caring even though Trump almost caught up to Obama's death count from the past six years in just six months.
Everything they say is just a distraction. They give you numbers without context meant to shock you but not educate you, because education requires the whole context, and they'll never show it to you.
You know this. You've all seen this. That's how they work on /co/. They take anything they want out of context, any comic panel, any show line, any screenshot, blow it out of proportion, and then make threads about it for days at a time.
Now imagine them doing that to real life. Crime statistics without socioeconomic considerations, feminist Twitter posts while hiding the comment section full of other feminists calling them a dumbass, all they want is an emotional reaction out of you so that you can ignore their real faults. And then another emotional reaction. And then another emotional reaction. Until they've worn you down so much that you stop caring about their faults and just take their shit for granted, until outrage becomes default, until some senile lunatic making macho stances at North Korea stops seeming so dangerous and absurd.
You have to care. But you can't force them to dictate what you care about. It's a tight line to walk on. You've got to walk it.
