Regardless, it's simply because people are simple (not saying the more cynical "stupid" here). They believe in right and wrong with nothing in between because that's what they want to see, it makes the world less complicated and in theory more easy to stomach. In practice, of course, it just makes everyone constantly angry about everything.
Thus, people who use rationalism to defend people who spew hatred or do things they disagree with with the obvious logic that if you allow the exception to silence those who speak out against one thing, it opens the door for those who speak out against other things to be silenced as well are lumped in with the people they're defending, because you're either with them or against them.>>95338450
Whether or not Islam actually is "a religion based on hatred" is irrelevant because it is an objective fact that not all Muslims practice it that way. If you believe that all the gays should be shot in the street, you're allowed to think that as long as you don't actually shoot gays in the street, because in America, you're allowed to say and think whatever you want. If you can ban or suppress Islam, you can ban or suppress any other religion or political side as well.
Captain America is all about people of all races, religions, creeds and nationalities living together in peace, saying and believing whatever they want, so long as they don't try to infringe on each others' rights. He's defended nationalists, separatists, socialists, fascists, even literal Nazis and KKK members, and yes, Muslims and Evangelists, and he will fight for their freedom to believe and say what they want to his dying day.
