Regarding the whole "social justice" replacement of other characters, won't it be a generally better thing to just make your own characters? Taking a theoretical situation like fucking Deadpool randoming turning black, and woman, with leukemia, and fucking gay wouldn't be social justice nor diversity. It would just be "hack". Making original characters AND having them not -in-your-face about how fucking muslim they are is the easiest and most efficient way to solve this issue.
