>>95049703That's understandable, and I don't know if you were the anon from before, but the show's evolution from two guys dicking around and having a good time to what it is now still isn't what I'd call a justified reason to hate him--again, if you were that anon from before.
It is a bit sad to me, since it went from casual dicking around to basically a small company, and Arin and Dan's chemistry isn't as organic which led to Arin developing a different persona that a sizable chunk of the fans find grating (when that vid came out that announced Jon was being replaced, one of the first people that jumped into my head was Chris O'Neill, because he and Arin are more on the same wavelength and he complements Arin's natural sense of humor better, so I was surprised when it was Dan).
>>95049865Different people have different thresholds for what they can manage while multitasking--I consider myself pretty rad at games, but I honestly believe I'd do worse than Arin if I had to talk over a game while playing.
Furthermore, I've never considered gaming competence to be a draw for the channel. There have been quite a few terribly played games that I enjoyed--I know that him getting hung up over a part in a game can be frustrating, but there are some games that end up being really funny in spite of them getting stuck on an obvious part. And these funny eps aren't acknowledged by fans/comments because they'd rather see a game played competently than be entertained.
There are eps of some of their Pokemon playthroughs I found extremely funny, but the comments were filled with rage, rage that was lost on me, even with me having played those games so much that I remember everything about them and thus everything they were doing wrong.
These funny eps are often not acknowledge until they show up in a "best of" compilation.
Again, not saying it can't be frustrating, but it's clear that some fans will prevent themselves from enjoying some eps because they prioritize progress.
