Its one of my fetishes, but I understand that it is essentially killing someone. On the other hand, I truly like the idea of someone being changed into a new or better person. I like the idea of somebody having that power.
When it happens to characters that I usually like though, even I can feel my interest slipping. This reminds of the Unending BE. I don't care what happens to the characters of Jim and Sharon, they are blank slates that are there to fulfill transformations, mental changes, and whatever else the authors want.
But lets say there's a storyline like the Video Game Club, where characters like Mario, Luigi, Ness, etc, are all turned into women who manage a club and lose all their identities and memories. I find it harder to enjoy that, and I lose interest.
