i like it. it obviously doesn't take itself too seriously, on a lot of levels.
the art is pretty simple due to model sheets not being strictly enforced and all the women are incredibly thicc, which can be a positive or negative depending on your taste.
the stories are also really simple, this is a show specifically geared towards kids so don't expect anything too deep. there's some lore but ian has said that it's mostly goofy parody and shouldn't be taken too seriously. might be a turn off to some, but i can enjoy an uncomplicated predictable story, as long as it doesn't feel condescending or cynical. it feels like they're having fun making this, it just depends on whether their definition of fun matches up to yours.
Because kid's show, a lot of the jokes are telegraphed and simple. And because of how loose the show looks, it mostly relies on visual humor and slapstick, but it occassionally sprinkles in some deeper wittier treats for older kids and adults, but as always, YMMV. they sure know their memes and tend to lean on it a lot.
the animation is where i feel the show really shines. it feels like they deliberately kept the designs simple so that they could get away with crazier animation. there are definitely parts that feel a little too sparsely animated for my liking, but they definitely pay it off with some surprisingly detailed and intricate animations when they want to. i feel like this is a budget thing.
the music, sounds, and voice acting is also really a big plus for me. jake kaufman (shovel knight, shantae) does the music and it's really good and catchy. they use a lot of old hanna barbera and circa dexter's lab sound effects, and the voice acting is also pretty inspired, although they aren't using kid goku for KO's voice anymore for some reason. the new one's okay but goku's voice really clicked for me.
it's worth watching imho. if you're sold on the art style then you'll probably enjoy the show too.
