>>94595989>Personally I think Sonic's gameplay system would flourish if it Incorporated more parkour elements if Sega had its former programming talents. That's true. Sega's forgetting its older talents.
>You got a fractured fan base that tells you 50 different things.Well, really, in that case you either make a few products for everyone (like they do with 2D/3D products now - even though there's a whole different special olympics concerning which specific variation of 2D Sonic is the true one), or focus on the group that brings you the most money - which, I think, is what they are doing with Sonic Forces so far. We can all laugh at the autistic fanbase that got inspired to create its own 2kool4scool characters, but the core to fun in Sonic games still lies in the flashy, energetic action B-movie atmosphere, just add the furries. Fiery explosions, escaping from giant killer whales, surfing on lava, stuff like that.
Take THAT away and all is left is Sonic acting like some old guy who tries to be hip by being ironic and disdainful toward his friends, villains and even the very idea of adventure (the other extreme being nearly emotionless Jesus the Hedgehog from Sonic Unleashed). It works in Sonic Boom, which is a sitcom, but not so much in the mainstream "adventurous" Sonic, IMHO.
