>>94250899I think the one thing that fucked up this comic and confused people is the saw. All the other tools aren't really anything. You could argue that the stick is sort of like a rake, but it's still so vague that it could be another random thing. But the saw is pretty clearly a saw.
Now the problem is not having things that doesn't look like tools, and it's not having things that looks like tools, but rather having both. It confuses the viewer as to what the intent of the artist is.
Had it all been crude but recognizable tools, the joke would be pretty clear. Had they all been completely unrecognizable tools, the joke would still be pretty clear. But both of them makes it unclear.
